Val's transplant nurse called and told us that her labs are slightly elevated. Her liver numbers AST/ALT were elevated some. BUN and CREATNINE were off too which can show dehydration.
This is to be expected becuase this weekend Valery had a terrible stomach virus and she was having vomitting, and diarrhea. And the diarrhea has lingered for a few days now, and the labs definitely show thats been going on. She is drinking and eating a LOT more than she was. She's recovering, just very slowly. Just thankful she didn't have to be admitted to the hospital for fluids or anything!
So instead of labs in a month, her nurse does want to make sure the numbers come down after this illness is completely gone, and recheck the labs in 2 weeks.
Besides her illness she had, Valery is doing wonderfully! She is still growing in height/weight, and she is saying new things everyday. We do think though she will need to possibly start speech therapy in the next few months if her speech doesn't improve. Any kind of therapy though can be expected with a child that had a transplant!
She also had her first dental visit, which went really great. She has some staining on her teeth from all the medications she has taken in her lifetime, but it is somewhat going away. She actually likes to get her teeth brushed now :) Hehe.
Also has a few teeth that have not grown in yet that technically should have by now. But the dentist said with the liver disease she had and transplant, she can definitely have a delay in the growth of her teeth. The enamel on her teeth were still good, but she is getting rechecked in May.
That is all for now. I will try and put new pictures of her up in the next few days! Be sure to sign the guestbook if you have stopped by :) Would appreciate it!
